Thank u, next

I had a pretty good 2018, all things considered. Compared to 2017, or at least the last few months of the year (arguably, anything is better), it was great. I done a whole post about 2018 and what it taught me, so I really don't want to reiterate myself too much here, but I think it's really important to reflect on the year I've had.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about my personal life, but 2018 has taught me how much of a mentally strong (even typing 'mentally strong' makes me feel like I'm boasting and I hate it) person I actually am. I also wrote this post at the end of 2017, talking about my goals for 2018 and what I wanted to achieve, and I felt so unhappy reading it, because I know exactly what I was going through then and how much I hoped 2018 would be a better year.

And (spoiler!) it was. Bad things did happen, and the people closest to me know that I struggled so much and made a few (read: many) choices that I shouldn't have. But 2018 was also brilliant. I made new friends, got even closer to people I was already friendly with, travelled a lot, and genuinely became a lot happier with myself. I learned a lot about myself and, for the first time in years, I can genuinely say I'm leaving this year knowing I'm happy and content with how my life is going.

So, to 2018, I say 'thank you for being the year of self-improvement, but next'.
